ScarletSherlock replied to the topic Ebooks vs Books. in the forum Alpha Public House 7 years, 6 months ago
I’m totally both. As a librarian, I don’t care how someone reads something; I’m just happy they read it. I tend to read a lot of stuff on e-book, and I buy hard copies of things I actually want to own, that I know I’ll re-read. I am also running out of space, so e-books are becoming more and more important to me. I also work at a library, so I…[Read more]

ScarletSherlock replied to the topic So… do you guys recommend the Mary Russell series? in the forum Laurie R. King's Series 7 years, 6 months ago
I personally really love the first couple of books. I credit (blame?) Russell for getting me back into Holmes after a long hiatus from about age 10 to age 19. I loved her at first! She was awkward and gawky just like me, and the first book made her really interesting and made Holmes quite accessible. Then King had to go and marry them off, and my…[Read more]

Hi! I have only read one issue so far, but I’m a big fan of Ming Doyle so I really enjoyed it! I was okay with JLD, mainly because of the characters (I’ll read anything with Zatanna or Deadman in it), but Constantine’s own solo series was awful. As far as I can tell from the one issue I read, this is the “old” John. Much more recognizable than new…[Read more]

ooh yes let’s live tweet! I remember Plummer as a really kind Holmes and they do have quite a wonderful relationship. This is the one everyone remembers for “Holmes. You squashed my pea.” but in terms of Holmes/Ripper movies I like this one way better than A Study in Terror (though John Neville is good too).

He is so lovely. I just cannot wait for this movie. I sincerely hope he is the first Sherlock Holmes portrayal to get an Oscar nomination.

Right?? I pre-ordered the blu-ray the very first day I could. It seems so surreal to finally almost have this piece of history in our hands.

Ack. I do wonder if it was the ticket price. If I were anywhere near I’d have gone, but that seemed steep.

YAYYY. I read The Lost World long, long before I ever read Sherlock Holmes. It’s near and dear to me. I wanted to be a paleontologist until math destroyed all my dreams. I haven’t seen JW yet (going on Friday!) but I can still rattle off dinosaur names at you, like a 6-year-old.

ScarletSherlock started the topic Moffat on Irene & Sherlock's last scene in the forum BBC’s “Sherlock Holmes,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch 7 years, 8 months ago
Sherlockology has a story up this week pondering “What Happened After Sherlock Rescued Irene?”
Moffat addressed some rumors surrounding that final scene in “A Scandal in Belgravia,” in which Sherlock Holmes saves Irene Adler from terrorists:
“The scene does not take place in Sherlock’s Mind Palace, nor could it,” Steven confirmed, “He’s been…[Read more]
